BFP LA UNION emerged as the overall champion during the recently concluded BFP Region 1 Fire Olympics in conjunction with the observance of Fire Prevention Month 2013 celebration held last March 21 to 23, 2013 at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University South La Union Campus in Agoo, La Union participated by teams from the BFP Regional Headquarters 1 and all provinces within the region.

TEAM LA UNION headed by Provincial Fire Marshal CINSP SAMUEL G ABENES bagged the championships in the Wild Hose Recovery and engine Relay, two major events during the competition. The team finished second in the bucket relay, rescue and rope climbing and third place in the tug of war and hose relay during the three (3) day competition.

For TEAM LA UNION composed of personnel from the Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal and the different fire stations within the province, the sportsfest was an avenue to showcase physical strength and mental alertness and promote unity and camaraderie among the personnel within the region. The sportsfest was a great relief from the pressures of being a firefighter working 24 hours a day monitoring and responding to fire alarms.

A victory celebration hosted by the Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal held at Bu Boat Resorts in Bauang, La Union attended by the participants followed to recognize the dedication, efforts and perseverance of the member of the team in giving honour to the province of La Union and rewards the team for a job well done.

Kudos TEAM LA UNION for a job well done and keep up the good work!
