San Fernando City Fire Marshal, SRINSP LANY B CARBONELL attended a specialized course entitled “Leadership for Women in Law Enforcement Course” held at the International Law Enforcement Academy in Bangkok, Thailand sponsored by the Department of States of the United States of America. The course was held from February 25, to March 1, 2013.
The course was designed to lay the foundation for developing effective law enforcement leaders now and in the future. It is a leadership course that presents universal practices and leadership challenges from a female law enforcement leader’s perspective which combined general leadership training with issues particular to women as well as allowed the participants to recognize their own strengths and competencies identify resources of support and encouraged participants to take responsibility.
Forty-one women engaged in law enforcement from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, HongKong, Macau, Singapore, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and the Philippines were selected to attend the course.
SRINSP LANY B CARBONELL was also sent by the government of San Fernando, La Union to attend the 5th ASEAN Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Jogja Expo Center, Jogakarta, Republic of Indonesia on October 22 to 25, 2012 sponsored by the CITYNET, United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction and Republic of Indonesia. The conference with the theme “Strengthening Local Capacity for Disaster Risk Reduction” was attended by over a thousand delegates from member nations of the United Nations. The Philippine delegation was headed by the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council Secretary, Benito Ramos.
